Mee Hokkien

If you’re in Phuket, there really is no excuse for not trying out the famous mee Hokkien dish. A staple of the local community, the dish is a delectable combination of wheat-and-egg noodles, seafood, pork slices and a helping of fresh greens.

Loba

This dish is a hearty combination of pork offal that’s braised in a selection of spices, and deep-fried snacks like spring rolls or fritters. Available at street stalls all over Phuket, the two distinct parts of the Loba are connected via a sweet dipping sauce that ties the whole thing together.

Roti

This the South East Asian version of a flaky pancake, and it is a ubiquitous dish all around the island. The Phuket style of eating roti is to tear it up into chunks and placing a juicy omelette atop the pile – an excellent combo that’s made even better with a bowl of spicy curry broth!

Oh Eaw

if you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth you should make it a point to have this deliciously simple dessert. Showered with ice, the dish contains gelatinous cubes made of banana starch and kidney beans. This is a dish that is unique to Phuket and you’ll be hard-pressed anywhere else, so make sure you grab one while you’re there!
