Kunming

Located in the bordering mountains close to Tibet, Laos, Burma, Vietnam and a few Chinese towns, Kunming is one of the most diverse locations in China, be it culturally or otherwise.

Food at Kunming

Serving an eclectic array of dishes, Kunming restaurants offer authentic cuisine that you must try when there. Be it a tiny street vendor or a restaurant within a luxury hotel the likes of Grand Park Kunming, there is plenty to choose from.

Popular Dishes

Shaguao Mixian is a type of rice noodles you can find in almost every food joint in Kunming. Made with broth, mustard pickles, pork and chilli, these noodles are then added in and cooked on a high stove. Another famous local dish would be the “Grilled Rubbing”, which is a kind of cheese that is sliced thinly and grilled with ham. You get both the sweet and salty variety of this dish in Kunming.

Unique Dishes

If Kunming is famous for one local dish that you simply cannot taste in other parts of the world, it is the roast duck they make. Known as the Yiliang Roast Duck, this exquisite dish is a must try for all.
