According to Ayurvedic principles, each individual has a particular dosha, which is based on the constitution of their mind and body; there are three doshas: Vata, based on the air and space elements; Pitta, based on fire and water elements; and Kapha dosha, based on water and earth elements. The Ayurvedic cuisine in Sri Lanka tends to emphasise the importance of eating fresh food. That is because the life force or prana of food begins to reduce when it is plucked from the ground. Thus, it is recommended that one consumes food that is in season. The best way to do this would be by visiting the local farmer’s market to find the freshest food.

Remove Snacks from Your Diet

Ayurveda emphasizes honoring your digestive fire (Agni). Frequent snacking can disrupt agni’s ability to efficiently digest meals, potentially leading to incomplete digestion and ama (toxins). While some avoid snacks completely, others may incorporate light, planned snacks that support their dosha.

Eliminate Cold Food and Drinks

The digestive power of a body, which is known as both inner fire and agni, cannot be diminished. To avoid this, it is recommended to eliminate cold food and drinks from one’s diet. While Vata and Kapha doshas can only consume warm food, Pitta can consume cool food but not frozen.
