The locals in Qatar have always relished their rich Arabic culture and heritage and how the Bedouin way of life has steeped into their meals and how they prepare and eat them. Below are six traditional dishes you must definitely try if you are in Qatar.

1. Machboos
Machboos is also known as Kabsa and is rice served with meat and vegetables all mixed together. You can often find this meal at festivals and on the top list of things to try at 5-star hotels in Doha.

2. Fatayer
This is a meat pastry or pie made in the traditional Arabic way stuffed with spinach and cheese. It is an essential Arab cuisine that can be found all over the Middle East.

3. Falafel
This you have obviously heard of before. A deep-fried patty of ground chickpeas and fava beans dipped and eaten with tahina. It is famous around the Middle East.

4. Shawarma
Shawarma comes from the Turkish word for “turning” and you know why!

5. Tabbouleh
