Goa Coconut and Cashew Festival – a distinctive event

Goa is always a magnet for tourists offering many attractions for the visitor. If you desire an attractive Goa resort an excellent choice would be the Alila Diwa Goa, an outstanding accommodation that provides tasteful interiors and courteous hospitality.

The Goa Coconut and Cashew Festival will draw the interest of the visitor with its many attractions. This yearly event is envisaged as a way of preserving and promoting the distinctive mode of life that may be seen in Goa. This festival attracts a host of visitors from across the globe, but it also enables local residents to appreciate their traditional roots and culture. At this one of a kind event you will be able to view traditional arts and craftwork, sample the local cuisine and gain an authentic insight into the local lifestyle.

As its name indicates this festival is primarily based on two foods that are inseparable from Goa; the coconut and the cashew nut. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn the innumerable uses of these two marvels of nature and their relevance to the local mode of life. As you might expect you will find an array of delectable local foods at this event, in addition to local desserts, beverages, cultural features and games.

Visitors will find a wide variety of presentations at the festival, including displays of handicrafts fashioned from cashew and coconut as well as demonstrations of the distillation of feni (a liquor made from the cashew fruit). Other workshops at the event include cookery presentations and even instruction on climbing coconut palms. Visitors will also learn about the rearing of coconut and cashew as well as other local plants and trees.

A major highlight at the festival is the performances provided by Goa’s most esteemed singers, musicians and dancers in keeping with the theme and ambience of the event. With so much to see and experience a visit to the Goa Coconut and Cashew Festival is sure to be memorable for any traveller.
